Description
Charming set of 4 vintage Wuxi / Huishan hand-painted clay baby figurines from China. Each child is shown holding or sitting with an animal:
Blue child holding a yellow giraffe
Pink child holding a white rabbit
Yellow child holding a white animal
Red child with a white dog
The figurines have the distinctive round faces, rosy cheeks, expressive painted eyes and bright colors associated with traditional Huishan clay figures from Wuxi, Jiangsu, China. Huishan clay-figure production was formally organized into a cooperative in Wuxi in 1954, followed by the Huishan clay figurine factory in 1958.
