Vostok 6 Space Flown Artifact Valentina Tereshkova Soviet Relic Fragment ORANGE For Sale

This listing is for a piece of original flown parachute material from the Vostok 6 spacecraft. This material accompanied Valentina Tereshkova as she became the first woman in space, from 16 - 19 June 1963. The artifact measures approximately 1" wide at the base. It has been attached to an 8"x10" photo for display. A Certificate of Authenticity is included, along with a copy of the original provenance document.Flown Vostok materials are among the rarest space artifacts in the world. Very few artifacts were ever publicly released from the program. I was only able to obtain a few square inches of this material, so this is by far my most limited edition to date - only eight of these will be produced.After the Vostok 6 mission ended and the spacecraft returned to Earth, its parachute material was provided to Kiev's Cosmonautic Museum by Colonel M. Y. Temper. Later, some of this fabric was given to artifact dealer Ricky Lanclos. Lanclos turned this fabric into several display pieces. The fragment for sale here was taken from one of these displays.Parachute fabric is very thin, so I linen-backed the pieces to avoid fraying and to prevent any adhesive from touching the artifact directly. Then, each one was mounted to a lab-printed 8" x 10" photograph. In order to provide as much provenance as possible, photographs were taken of the entire process. Each artifact will come with a Certificate of Authenticity that includes photos of the original material, along with photos of your specific piece being removed. Each photo will be numbered on the back, so you can match your specific item to the photos/COA.In addition, the winner will receive a copy of the letter that accompanied the original artifact when it was donated by Colonel M. Y. Temper. A scan of this letter can be seen in the photos.Because this is a Soviet artifact, I created the display in Russian/Cyrillic. My artifacts have been shipped to buyers across many nations and languages; and so instead of defaulting to English, I wanted this artifact to be displayed with its original language. It feels like the most respectful and historically accurate way to present these pieces.
