This vintage collectible Silver Plated Seated Teddy Bear Coin Bank fromLeonard Silver Mfg. Co.of Boston, Massachusetts is the premium, early-production version that wasmade in Italyin the 1970s.

This decorative coin bank is in the charming shape of a seated single bear with beautifully detailed, heavily textured fur wearing a smile and a dapper bow tie.

PREMIUM FEATURES OF ITALIAN VERSION

Material: Made of heavy electroplated zinc (unlike later lighter weight imports from East Asia)
Coin-Removal Hatch: Original, integrated twist-lock hatch on base that is cast in the same heavy, textured silver-plate metal as the rest of the bear. (Later versions used stamp-cut pieces of flat, shiny sheet metalor aluminum orgenericfriction-fit plugs ofplastic or rubber.)
