Add a unique piece of Australian design history to your collection with this hard to fine beautiful vintage lot of three (3) authentic ceramic mugs from the Weiss Art Australia giftware line, designed by renowned Australian designer Peter Weiss. Produced during the late 1990s (circa 1997–1999) and distributed by Hale Imports Pty Ltd of Brookvale, NSW, these mugs feature a striking minimalist abstract brushstroke interpretation of the iconic sails of the Sydney Opera House.

* (1) Shorter, rounded/tapered ceramic porcelain mug (Manufactured in Thailand, c. 1997–1998)
Collector’s Note – Late 1990s Production Variations:
This lot is an excellent example of the manufacturing transition within the Weiss Art line during the late 1990s. As production shifted between factories, slight differences in decoration naturally occurred due to separate print runs and high-temperature kiln firing.
The two tall Chinese-made mugs feature noticeable but authentic printing variations. One displays the artist’s intended dry-brush effect, with crisp textured white spaces incorporated into the black brushstroke and a lighter slate-blue accent. The second mug has a fuller black ink application with a richer cobalt-blue accent. These differences are original factory characteristics and are not signs of wear or damage. Both mugs retain a smooth, glossy protective glaze over the vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or significant crazing. Graphics remain bright and vibrant, and the interiors are clean with no stubborn coffee or tea staining. Please review all photos carefully, as they form an important part of the description and accurately show the unique factory variations between the mugs.
