- Bunny Yeager was born in Western Pennsylvania, but she attended school in Miami Florida, where she has spent most of her life. As a teenager in the 1940s, she took a fashion modeling course at the Coronet Modeling School in Miami. Statuesque, 5\'10\", with measurements of 36-25-36, Bunny was a natural to become one of Florida\'s first super models. She competed in many beauty pageants, winning more than two dozen titles. Bunny was popular with both local and visiting photographers, not only because of her fresh, girl-next-door looks and posing ability, but also for her skill in designing and making her own bikinis. Bikinis had been created after World War Il, but were still not readily available in stores in the United States. Other models couldn\'t compete with Bunny when they showed up in store-bought, two-piece or one-piece bathing suits. Bunny\'s suits were not only original looking; they were briefer. When she couldn\'t find a tiger print material, Bunny bought an orange cotton and hand-painted realistic tiger stripes on it, then made it into one of her classic bikini creations. The photographers went wild over it. Bunny found herself in demand with the publicity departments of Miami and Miami Beach during the 40s and 50s. Those were the days when these cities were promoting tourism with beautiful women. Bunny would think up clever and funny ideas for the new bikinis, for holiday posing situations, or for special occasions. One time she created a bikini made of white fur with matching bunny ears and held an Easter egg while posing on her knees, with the ocean in the background. Another time she trimmed a red dancer\'s leotard with white maribou (it looked like fur), made a matching Santa hat and posed with one leg coming out of a red brick chimney (made of cardboard) - again with the ocean in the background. Both Miami and Miami Beach sent these photos out over all the wire services, thus making Bunny Yeager Florida\'s most photographed model. Photographs of her appeared regularly in over 300 newspapers around the world. In Miami, she was recognized wherever she went. One of the New York photographers who came to Miami every winter to photograph the girls was Roy Pinney. Bunny was one of Roy\'s favorite models. When he learned that she was studying photography as a hobby, he got the bright idea that he could sell a story to a magazine about a beautiful model who became a photographer. Bunny protested, \"But Roy, I\'m not serious about this, I don\'t intend to become a professional.\" Roy wouldn\'t give up the idea. He photographed Bunny sewing a bikini, fitting it on a model, and shooting the model at a beach location. The American Weekly, a Sunday color magazine supplement in newspapers across the US picked up the story. In August 1953, the story appeared in US Camera magazine. It featured a cover photo of Bunny with the headline \"The World\'s Prettiest Photographer.\" Bunny was so proud of that cover, but was also a little embarrassed because she was not a \"real photographer,\" just a student. Little did she know at the time, but Roy Pinney had launched her into a new career. Since then, Bunny has established herself as one of the top glamour photographers in the world. She is the author of 24 books. The latest is her 1995 best seller, \"Bunny\'s Honeys\". In 1997, Bunny reprinted one of her first books \"How I Photograph Nudes\" in paperback.
