Up for sale is a beautiful vintage Descoware enameled cast iron saucepan with its original matching lid, made in Belgium during the mid-20th century. This highly collectible piece features Descoware\'s iconic \"Flame\" colorway (a vibrant orange-to-red gradient ombré), famously known as a personal favorite brand of culinary icon Julia Child.
The bottom of the pot and the underside of the lid are both stamped with FE 18, denoting the model and 18cm sizing (approximately a 1-to-1.5-quart capacity). Descoware is beloved by cooks and collectors alike for offering the exceptional heat retention of traditional cast iron, but with a lighter, easier-to-handle weight than modern alternatives.

This item is being sold in Pre-Owned / Vintage condition with signs of age and previous use. Please review the photos carefully as they serve as the primary description of condition:
Exterior: The Flame orange enamel remains vibrant, vivid and bright with a gorgeous gloss finish. There are typical light cosmetic scuffs and shelf-wear markings on the lid, base and handle.
Interior: The interior light enamel shows heavy dark swirling, cosmetic staining, and discoloration from previous use centered at the bottom. The finish still feels smooth to the touch. I believe there are ways to clean this out.
Rim & Edges: There is minor, typical enamel flea-biting/chipping along the exposed cast iron rims of both the pot and the lid where they meet.
This piece is completely structurally sound with no cracks to the underlying cast iron. It makes a stunning retro display piece for a farmhouse or mid-century modern kitchen, or can be used for cooking after a deep cleaning.
