Vintage Harmony Hollow Bell Works bronze butterfly bell, attributed to the Jeff Cross tradition, likely Bradley Cross-era production, circa late 1970s–1980s, with “JEFF CROSS MADE ME” inscription and original verdigris patina.
19”.
Vintage Harmony Hollow / Jeff Cross Bronze Butterfly Wind Bell
Beautiful vintage bronze wind bell from the Harmony Hollow Bell Works / Jeff Cross tradition, featuring a striking butterfly motif and a gorgeous naturally developed turquoise-green verdigris patina.
The bell is marked around the top with “JEFF CROSS MADE ME.” It has the distinctive stepped/domed top associated with Cross/Harmony Hollow bells, along with hand-worked hanging hardware, original-style clapper, and large metal windcatcher.
The aged patina has been left completely untouched and gives this piece wonderful character. There is visible surface oxidation, discoloration, and wear consistent with age and outdoor use. Please examine all photographs carefully, as the photos are an important part of the description.
Details:
* Vintage cast bronze bell
* Large butterfly decoration
* “JEFF CROSS MADE ME” inscription
* Beautiful natural verdigris patina
* Hand-formed hanging hardware
* Original clapper and windcatcher
* Wonderful garden or patio accent
* Appears to be an earlier Harmony Hollow/Cross-family production piece
Jeff Cross founded Harmony Hollow in Arizona in 1969. Following his death in 1977, the Cross family continued the bell-making tradition, with Harmony Hollow Bell Works eventually operating in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Please note: While the bell bears the “JEFF CROSS MADE ME” inscription and is clearly associated with the Jeff Cross/Harmony Hollow tradition, I have not found documentation establishing that this particular butterfly bell was personally cast by Jeff Cross during his lifetime. I am therefore offering it as a vintage Harmony Hollow / Jeff Cross bell, rather than making an unsupported claim about its exact production date.
A wonderful piece for a collector of Jeff Cross, Harmony Hollow, vintage bronze garden bells, architectural garden art, or unusual vintage garden décor.
Condition: Vintage/used with substantial natural verdigris, oxidation, surface wear and signs of age. No attempt has been made to remove or alter the original patina.
