SUPERB COLORS
Colors are magnificent- these were each hand painted, and the person that glazed this particular piece had a real gift for color and glaze- it\'s got the best coloration of a Toby Jug I\'ve ever seen. Very rich, deep, almost jewel toned grape purples and deep ivy greens, with very realistic skin and eye coloration [including flushed cheeks].
A FUN piece.
Facial expression is wonderful, with a sly Bacchus half-wink that lets you know he\'s up to trouble. Back of piece has the word BACCHUS embossed into the glaze.
Fancy twisted grapevine handle with a band of grape leaves and a cluster of grapes arranged across his forehead, and scalloped rim where leaves are.
Beautiful 3-D detailing
Excellent/pristine condition! LARGE SIZE for a Toby Jug. No crazing and no chips nicks cracks or scratches. No repairs. Must have been VERY carefully stored. Glaze is glossy and unfaded.
