Original World War II U.S. Army 80th Infantry Division paper grouping featuring “The Blue Ridge Path Through France, Luxembourg, Germany, and Austria.”
The large campaign map was compiled and drawn by the G-3 Section, Headquarters, 80th Infantry Division, and is dated May 22, 1945. It traces the division’s attack and return routes across Europe and states that it was “Passed by the AEF Field Press Censor for mailing home.”
Map measures approximately 30.75 x 22.5 inches and retains its original period folds.
Also included is an original 1944 U.S. Army “Pocket Guide to France,” prepared by the Army Information Branch for military personnel. The guide contains information about French history, customs, conduct, language, measurements, and important signs.
Additional associated military-era paper items shown in the photographs are included.
Condition:
The map is complete and displays well, with original folds, light age toning, scattered minor discoloration, edge wear, wrinkles, and other signs of age and storage. The booklet and accompanying papers show expected age toning, folds, handling wear, and minor edge wear. No restoration has been attempted.
This is an original 1945 unit campaign map—not a modern reproduction. It was produced shortly after V-E Day as a record of the 80th Infantry Division’s European campaign and approved for soldiers to mail home. It should not be represented as a tactical battlefield map.
Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description. The map will be shipped folded along its existing original fold lines and protected between rigid pieces of cardboard.
