“For Use at the Army Cadet School”Inside are numerous songs, lyrics, and musical scores used as part of the school curriculum.The opening section also includes an official instruction stating that the book was to be used for singing practice, dated April 1, 1933, with the name of Tokyo Army Cadet School principal Masakichi Itami.This is therefore more than a general wartime songbook. It was a school-issued educational text connected directly to prewar Japanese military training.The Army Cadet Schools educated boys from a relatively young age in preparation for future military service and officer training. In addition to academic subjects, their education emphasized discipline, group identity, physical training, and military values. Music and group singing were part of that environment.Published in 1933, shortly after the Manchurian Incident, this booklet belongs to a period when military influence was becoming increasingly visible in Japanese society.Rather than documenting combat itself, this item preserves something different:
