An outstanding 1930’s (nearly antique) handcrafted, red clay plate from Mexico with a dark blotchy glaze that is just absolutely stunning!
The frontside is hand-painted with a black border and beautiful green & white design work surrounding an adorable little bird frolicking around atop a cactus flower.
There is a very small surface chip on the front (circled in photo) along with couple tiny chips in the glaze on the backside. Much of what may appear in the photos as chipping or scratching on the back is actually just glare from the light, I assure you.
Overall, especially given the age (90+yrs) the plate is in excellent condition and even somehow has managed to still have its original price tag of $30.00 attached!
This was actually a very large chunk of change back in the mid-late 1930’s ($600-$700 nowadays) which really speaks to the artistry and craftsmanship of this wonderful piece.
