Uncommonlylarge, weighing 132.6 grams, this ovoid-shaped Philippine Bicolite tektite isextremely rare for several reasons: 1) Rarely are Bicolites over 100 grams. 2)and those that are found which are over 100 grams are usually unattractive withvery little character. 3) This is a very attractive specimen for any size, letalone one of over 100 grams.
Fullof character and aesthetics, this extra-large specimen is covered with gasbubble spots and graced with many deep contraction grooves. A rich, darksand-blown patina is an added bonus.
Philippinites,or Bicolites, which are tektites that are found in the Province of Bicol, arerarely found over 100 grams in weight. In fact, in the past 8 years less than10 Bicolites a year are found which weigh over 100 grams, making the presentspecimen of 132.6 grams, extremely rare.
Thispast trip to the Philippines I did not come back with a single specimen over100 grams for two reasons: There were very few on the market, and the few thatI saw were way over-priced in my opinion. So grab this one while you can; AnImpressive specimen for its size and character.

A tektite’sshape is aerodynamically determined by its degree of orientation as it fallsback to Earth. As it cools, the molten rock contracts which forms contractiongrooves and gas bubbles that leave attractive patterns as the tektitehardens.Both virtuesare visible on this current specimen.
