Antique Victorian / Edwardian cloth scrap album, c.1900–1910. All pages can be seen on pictures. Please see all pictures for the overall condition.

A charming handmade-style children's scrap album with brown cloth pages, hand-stitched along the spine. It is filled with colourful chromolithograph die-cut scraps, prints and postcards from around the turn of the century.

The front cover has a large chromolithograph spray of red, pink and yellow roses. It carries a handwritten pencil gift inscription: "Bertie Price, from Master Philip, Master Saun[ders?] and Miss Buncher". This is a lovely personal provenance piece, probably a gift from children and a governess or teacher.

Contents include:

• Victorian embossed die-cut scraps: butterflies, chicks and hens, roses, fruit, children, farm animals, horses, a pug, collies, a tabby cat and a goose
• Royal Navy warship scraps flying the White Ensign and Union Jack
• Cavalry and military scraps, including Hussars and mounted officers
• Named natural history and alphabet scraps: Fallow Deer, Wolf, Zebra, American Bison, Tapir, Lynx, Hyena, Buffalo, Otter, Beaver, Chamois, Rhinoceros, Xiphodon, Yak (Y), Tiger (T), Wren (W), Unicorn (U) and more
• "The Courtship of Kitty" card, with dressed cats in the style of Louis Wain (unsigned as far as I can see)
• Edwardian motor car greetings card with an acrostic verse
• Two early US postcards: "Pulp and Paper Mill, Covington, Va." (Wharton Bros., printed in Germany, inscribed "Love from H.M.C.") and "A Natural Scene in the Heart of Alleghany Mts."
• Black and white prints of Old Master paintings and landscapes, plus a Victorian print titled "The Snowball – Guilty or Not Guilty?"
• Red Riding Hood, a girl with an umbrella, a Dutch girl at a spinning wheel, a skating girl and other large figures
