Original antique studio photograph of Olena Ivanivna Lubetska (Elena Ivanovna Lubetskaya), photographed in Rovno, Volhynia Governorate, approximately in the 1910s.
The photograph comes from a family archive with documents identifying the sitter. Olena Lubetska was the daughter of Orthodox priest Ioann Lubetsky. According to the accompanying family archive documents, she completed the First Women\'s Theological School in Kyiv in 1905, received a teaching qualification and later worked as a school teacher.
She is shown wearing an exceptionally beautiful Ukrainian traditional folk costume, including richly decorated embroidered sleeves, an elaborate embroidered apron and numerous rows of traditional necklaces / beads.
The full-length studio composition provides an excellent view of the costume and its embroidery. She poses beside an ornate carved studio pedestal and decorative balustrade, characteristic of high-quality photographic studios of the period.
