Group of original early photographic postcards depicting what appears to be a surveying or civil engineering school field camp, circa 1910s–1920s.The photographs show a large group of young men housed in rows of canvas wall tents and posed with an assortment of period surveying equipment. Several surveying transits/theodolites are prominently displayed on their tripods, along with leveling/surveying rods and other field equipment. One image provides an excellent group portrait of the students or survey crew surrounded by their instruments, while another shows the camp itself with tents extending along both sides of a wooded lane.An excellent group documenting early 20th-century surveying, civil engineering education and field training.
