This handmade toy truck from Haiti features a unique Haitian Creole phrase, "God is Good," and may be signed by the artist, Jacmel.
The truck is handpainted with a yellow color and depicts a simplistic, childlike design typical of Haitian folk art. This item pulled my heartstrings when one considers that this may have been made for a child by his father...my backstory, of course. The "Dieu Si Bon" on the front translates from Haitian Creole to "God is Good". "Oke Lav" roughly translates to "Ok Life". "Jacmel" could be the name of the maker or his son (?). In any regard, the toy truck is precious.
EXCELLENT VINTAGE CONDITION. The wheels spin. It's well-made, if a little crude, as folkart usually is, especially from economically depressed countries.
