View Larger Image   North Brothers Yankee No. 1431 Hand Drill Single Speed   Description: This is a very nice, clean, single speed hand drill marked "YANKEE NO. 1431 NORTH BROS. MFG. CO. PHILA. PA. U.S.A." on the handle ferrule. This particular design is one of the smoothest of the many single speed hand drill made, since it's design includes the double gears on the main shaft, balancing any play there could have been in the drilling motion. This drill is in great shape with about 70% original paint intact, and about 85% nickel plating intact. The 0-9/32" diameter capacity, 3 jaw chuck, is in good working order as well, and is also marked with the YANKEE brand name and a patent date. This drill measures 9.25" long overall, and is not designed to have a side handle. Both hardwood handle and knob on the crank are in great shape, nice smooth natural type finish. All the shafts and gears are in very good shape, very smooth operation.
