View Larger Image   Millers Falls No. 170 Yankee Spiral Push Drill w/7 Drill Points   Description: This is a rarely seen push drill from the mid-1900's era! This was one of the first of the Yankee style push drills to have the plastic handle in it's design. In this case in this Millers Falls designed the plastic part to be cased in polished aluminum end cap and a metal threaded ferrule on the other end, so the tips of the handle are metal including the thread that holds the cap in place. Millers Falls made many styles of push drills, beginning the the early 1900's. They used two different type drill point chucks over the years, this one having the YANKEE type shank bits and chuck. This model is much like the Stanley No. 45 in design, as well as some features, like the included drill points to fit in the spring type YANKEE brand chuck. But this unit is longer than the No. 45 measuring 10" long overall. This drill is in good+ condition overall with a very good spring chuck to hold the drill points in place. There is 7 drill bits or points included and stored in the handle in sectioned slots, the smallest 1/16" point size is missing from the set. (The handle has 4 sections to hold the bits, inside the handle on this model. They are all different in sizes, ranging from 5/64" to 11/64" diameter, each has a .168" diameter shank size (a full set), in very good used to new condition. The drill points shown in the picture are the actual points that come with this push drill. This push drill is in good+ used condition with most of the wear on the red plastic handle area, the metal parts have only minor wear on the spiral shaft sleeve, and on the plastic handle area. We note nickel plating is about 98% intact. It is marked "MILLERS FALLS NO. 170 MADE IN U.S.A.", on the polished end cap, A hard to find model in this nice of condition!
