View Larger Image   Stanley Jointer Plane No. 8 Type 6A w/Fence   Description: This is a very good antique, but useable, large No. 8 jointer plane with a nicely owner built jointer fence attachment included. It is marked "STANLEY" on the lateral lever. It also has the "No. 8" cast raised letting on the bed in front of the knob, Overall the plane is in very good working condition, very little wear, no cracks or damage, very nice rosewood tote and knob. About 95% of the original black Japanning is intact, The cutter is sharp, and the correct cutter, but there is some pitting on the area at the top where the name is, so the Stanley loge can't be seen, but the rest of the cutter if very clean, and plenty of length for re-sharpening. The bare metal has a slightly darkened patina, smooth and nice with very little wear or scratches. All the adjustments work very well. A nice clean, user plane from the late 1800's. Also included is a nice removeable jointer fence. The fence is 20" long x 2.5" wide, and is adjustable. In the picture I did check to be sure it can be set to the true 90 degree setting, and it will, and is in the picture. There is two tapped/threaded hole in the side of the cast wall of the plane that holds the removeable fence assembly in place. It is very rigid, or sturdy, and is adjustable, or you can remove it when not needed. It is a little heavy, but very clean and straight!
