View Larger Image   Stanley No. 3 Smooth Plane 1890's Era   Description: This is a very clean Stanley No. 3 plane with the rosewood handles and the smooth bottom. It has no cracks and the Japanning is about 85% intact with little wear. We do note that there is no rust, some minor scratches, a few tiny dings, and a few small areas on the side have some minor pitting noted. The rosewood handle and knob are solid neither is cracked one small chip off the tote top edge, some small dings on both, both have a nice shiney finish. The cap cover is in nice shape, a few tiny dings. The blade is sharp and has little sign of use, and is marked "STANLEY NEW BRITAIN CONN. U.S.A." in the V shaped logo on it. The blade is from the 1910's era, a little newer than the rest of the plane. The blade is sharp and has plenty of stock left for future sharpening. also marked "STANLEY PAT. 7-24-88" on the lateral lever, and "NO. 3" in front of the knob. The plane measure 9.0" long overall, and has a 1.75" wide cutter.
