View Larger Image   Samson Socket Firmer Chisel 1/2 inch UNION HARDWARE   Description: This is a very nice, hard to find 1/2" socket firmer chisel marked "SAMSON UNION HARDWARE COMPANY TORRINGTON CONN. U.S.A." a toolmaker in the late 1800's. The steel section of this chisel alone is 8.2" long x .50" width. Union was a well known quality tool maker, who used the best quality steel and processes in their time. It has a good sharp cutting edge, and good honed surfaces around that same edge. There is no pitting in the cutting edge area (some minor pitting on the top area, no rust on it, very clean, very sharp. The socket is good, the handle fits well and is solid, very little wear, with the leather end cap, not abused fits perfectly. A a green color stain, about 100% intact.
