1920's Fusee Wall Clock By Grimshaw,Baxter & Elliott From Old Firestation C 1920:
$634.55

This is a nice example of a London Council Clock with single fusee movement by the London makers Grimshaw,Baxter & Elliott. The clock has been in my possession for about 35 years.I bought the clock from a man who was selling it in Brick Lane Sunday market,East London minuites from where I once lived.I was told it originally came from the Old Bethnal Green Fire station that closed down in the late 1960s and that the sellers father was a fireman there and had taken the clock when the building closed down as it was going to be thrown away on a skip and the building was being cleared and was expected to bedemolished like many other building in the area at the time.
The clock has a 12 inch clean enamel dial, glass front with brass bevel,2 pegs to the original wooden case and original key and pendulum. The letters, numbers etc on the back of the clock movement say the clock was made by Grimshaw,Baxter & Elliot in London at the End of WW1-The early 1920's period.
The clock is working and runs fine but bottom of pendulum is missing a screw and suspension arm is broke but I will try and replace for buyer.
Pictures in Listing are of the Old Fire station In Roman Rd,Bethnal Green East London around 1920 and later around 2015 (The Tower in the first picture was reduced in size after becoming unsafe due toThe Blitz in WW2).The Fire station is now home to the LondonBuddhist Center.
Amy viewing welcome........Old Felixstowe area.
