1930s Westminster Abbey 12 Photogravure Photos Photochrom Complete Set London For Sale

The original envelope describes the contents as:
“A SERIES OF 12CAMERA STUDIESREPRODUCED INPHOTOGRAVURE”
A wonderful surviving complete set containing all twelve original photographic studies of Westminster Abbey in London.
The photographs document both the magnificent Gothic architecture of the Abbey and some of its most historically important monuments and interiors.
Views represented in the set include Westminster Abbey exterior and architectural views, the Abbey Choir, the Coronation Chair, royal tombs and monuments, the North Entrance, the Grave of the Unknown Warrior and other celebrated interior features.
Particularly interesting is the image associated with the Grave of the Unknown Warrior, one of Westminster Abbey\'s most important 20th-century memorials.

No exact publication date is printed on the envelope.
Based upon the photographic format, printing style and documented contemporary Photochrom Westminster Abbey material, this set appears consistent with approximately the 1920s-1930s / interwar period.
It is therefore being offered as circa 1930s rather than assigning an unsupported exact publication year.
SCARCITY
Individual vintage Westminster Abbey postcards and Photochrom views can still be found.
The much more interesting feature here is the survival of the complete matching SERIES A group of twelve photogravure camera studies together with its original purpose-made Westminster Abbey envelope.
Current research did not locate another exact complete example of this 12-image Series A Westminster Abbey packet presently indexed for sale.
For that reason, I consider the complete packet scarce/uncommon rather than describing it as rare.
The original envelope itself is especially attractive, printed in red with the Westminster Abbey name, heraldic arms and the wording:
“A Series of 12 Camera Studies Reproduced in Photogravure”
“Produced by Photochrom Co. Ltd. London & Tunbridge Wells”
A beautiful piece of early British travel, architectural and photographic ephemera that has survived as its original complete set rather than being broken apart and sold as individual views.
