Original Vintage 1995 Marriott Hotel Restaurant Room Service Menu Downtown Kansas City Missouri
The downtown Kansas City Marriott at 200 West 12th Street opened in 1985 as the Vista International Hotel, a 22-story tower built with $35 million lent by 32 banks, insurance companies and charities and nicknamed the \"Miracle on 12th Street\" for the revival it was meant to bring to the city center. The Kansas City Star\'s architecture critic called it \"a public embarrassment\" when it opened, and within eighteen months its owners were contemplating bankruptcy; management changed in 1987 and Marriott acquired the hotel in 1988. A 1995 bond issue — the year of this menu — paid for renovations to the Marriott and a new Muehlebach Tower, the neighboring Hotel Muehlebach being renovated between 1992 and 1998 and reopened by Marriott in 1998.
