Renowned Horse Racing Photographer (C.C.) Charles Christian Cook, collection of 6 incredible images from 1907-1916 depictions of horse racing tragedies.
This EXTREMELY RARE collection was recently found in the back of an antique shop near Saratoga Springs New York. Includes all Original Signed Large 11” x 14” Photographs as well as all Signed Matting Detailing the time and places of each incident. (Framed size is 14.5” x 17.5”)
The collection includes the 6 ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHS, MATTING, FRAMES & GLASS. The photos were taken out of the frames and cleaned. New dust cover and hangers on all.

Photo 1: Matting inscribed “‘Commandant’ Jockey Grantland, Hurdle Race City Park N.O. Jan 16, 1907 Horse Killed. Jockey not hurt. Note people have not had time to move.”
Photo 2: Matting inscribed “‘Sanctus’ Jockey Dupree. Sheepshead Bay Sept. 12, 1908. Horse not injured. Dupree’s collarbone broken. Two outside horses go down too. This photograph won gold medal in competition with 2500 others.”
Photo 3: Matting inscribed “‘Sir Bedivere’ Jockey Huppe Gravesend Sept. 14, 1909. Horses rump comes over on Huppe’s face crushing it like a pan cake. Was in hospital 6 months- finally recovered only to be killed his very first mount.”
Photo 4: Matting inscribed “‘Impulsive’ Mr. J. Lucas United Hunts May 13, 1916. Horse broke his neck.”
Photo 5: Matting inscribed “‘Shannon River’ Jockey Allen Belmont Park June 30, 1913. Allen tossed over head of horses head, takes bridle and reins with him- bounces along like a rubber ball- gets up and walks away uninjured.”
Photo 6: Matting inscribed “‘Paddy Kelly’ Mr. B.B. Lewis. United Hunts Sept. 27, 1916. Horse not hurt. Mr. Lewis taken to hospital badly injured.”
