Rare Antique Geer “Cone Clipper” Ice Cream Disher

Patented October 16, 1906 – Troy, New York

Offered is a scarce original Geer Manufacturing Company Cone Clipper, one of the earliest specialty ice cream dishers produced for commercial soda fountains and ice cream parlors during the early 1900s.

Unlike ordinary round scoops, the Cone Clipper was designed to produce a perfectly shaped cone of ice cream for serving in the new-style ice cream cones that became popular after the turn of the century.

The cast handle is clearly marked:

Historical Significance

The Geer Cone Clipper represents one of the earliest purpose-built commercial ice cream cone serving tools. These unusual patented utensils were used in soda fountains and confectioneries during the first decade of the twentieth century and are considerably scarcer than standard mechanical ice cream scoops.

Because many saw heavy commercial use, surviving examples—especially those retaining their original cast handle markings—are increasingly difficult to locate.
