Late 19th-century American fraternal ceremonial sword attributed to Thomas W. Sweney of Reading, Pennsylvania, a noted jeweler and maker of society/fraternal goods. Features an ornate knight’s helmet pommel, fluted light-colored grip, decorated crossguard, etched steel blade, and original metal scabbard with raised figural knight decoration and suspension rings. Blade bears the T.W. Sweney / Reading, PA marking, and blade has the words "loyalty, Obedience, and Fidelity" with other designs.Displays expected age-related wear, patina, finish loss and oxidation. A handsome example of Pennsylvania fraternal regalia from the late Victorian era.
