Although the original ornament was never designed to lightup, I engineered a discreet lighting system that beautifully illuminates theiconic red lens, creating an eye-catching display that highlights one ofChevrolet\'s most recognizable design elements. The LED is powered by 2 AAbatteries with an on/off switch on the side. The chrome is shiny but pitted,which adds some great patina.
The ornament is mounted on a handcrafted solid walnut base custom-shapedto echo the flowing lines of the hood of a 1949-1950 Chevrolet. The front ofthe base is gracefully rounded, while the rear tapers to complement the ornament\'sstreamlined design. The walnut features striking natural grain patterns, makingevery piece one of a kind.
The base has been carefully sanded to 600-grit for anexceptionally smooth finish and hand-rubbed with Watco Danish Oil,bringing out the rich color and character of the walnut.
