Many Japanese porcelain companies exporting dinnerware to the West between the 1920s and 1930s, like Meito China, did not give titles to their patterns. Instead, they categorized them internally by shape and design numbers. Because this piece is an unnamed, discontinued vintage style, it is officially identified and searched for online solely by its descriptive registry title:Pink Flowers & Gold Scrolls on Cream Band (Pattern MEI1009).
This porcelain was produced in the city of Nagoya, Japan by Nagoya Seito Sho, a highly regarded firm founded in 1908 by a former Noritake engineer. Their export porcelain rivaled Noritake in quality and was primarily made for the Western market.
This exact style of the scalloped turquoise-blue shield mark represents their prime interwar export phase, specifically circa 1925–1935. It predates World War II, as the company was restructured and sold during the war, shifting its name to Narumi Seito Sho.
The pattern features an exquisite cream rim decorated with hand-painted multi-color floral sprays (roses, bluebells, and marigolds), framed by an ornate gold scroll filigree border and a striking burnt-orange edge line.
