Description
This is a rare, not-for-sale commemorative booklet distributed exclusively to members of the Shogi Unit (Shōjō Butai) of the Imperial Japanese Army in 1938, during the height of the China Incident (Second Sino-Japanese War).
The unit was stationed in Shijiazhuang (Shōjō), an important railway hub in Hebei province, northern China. The area was a key strategic point during Japan’s rapid expansion after the Marco Polo Bridge Incident in 1937. Units in this sector were involved in both frontline battles and occupation duties, often operating under harsh conditions.
The booklet includes:
- Group photos of soldiers and officers
- Battle reports and illustrated maps
- Rare on-site snapshots of campaigns and encampments
- Names of participating members
- Official publication stamp of the Shōjō Unit
