View Larger Image   Fray Ratchet Brace 8 Inch Rosewood No. 86   Description: This is a super nice 8" swing brace with nice solid rosewood handles, and the adjustable ratchet system! (The swing of the brace is measure by multipling the distance between the chuck and swing handle centerline times two, or the full diamter of the swing). It is marked " JOHN S. FRAY & CO. BRIDGEPORT CT. U.S.A. NO. 86" on the steel. It retains about 80% of the original nickel plating, some staining, no pitting noted. The chuck works very smoothly, one of the nicest early designs! The jaws are in great shape also. The rosewood has very little wear, a few edge dings on the head handle, and a center groove cut in the swing handle, both very sold, smooth turning! The ratchet system works great! A favorite brace with many chair, and other furniture makers!
