A traditional Japanese heavy-duty Tataki Nomi (叩き鑿) woodworking chisel, signed 宗二郎 (Sojiro).
This is a substantial Japanese striking chisel with an approximately 48 mm (1.89 in) cutting edge, traditionally used for heavy woodworking, joinery, carpentry and timber-framing work.
The chisel has been previously used and shows authentic signs of age and professional use.
It has been cleaned, rust has been removed where appropriate, and the cutting edge has been sharpened and maintained.

Maintenance & Condition
The following maintenance has been performed:

No artificial blackening or refinishing has been performed, and the handle hoop (katsura) has not been newly modified or reset.
The chisel retains its natural aged appearance and patina.
There are scratches, stains, oxidation, discoloration, wear and other signs of age and previous use throughout the tool.
The wooden handle and metal hoop also show considerable signs of use and age.
The cutting edge has been sharpened; however, professional woodworkers often adjust and sharpen Japanese chisels according to their own personal preferences. Additional fine sharpening or maintenance may therefore be required by the buyer.

The tool has been checked and is considered functional.
