Tressemanes Vogt Limoges Rare Violets Antique 3 1/8\" Cup & Hostess Snack Plate 1892-1907

ITEM DESCRIPTION

This antique Tressemanes Vogt Limoges Porcelain Cup & Hostess Snack Plate Set is in Excellent Antique Condition with No Chips No Cracks No Crazing. Made in Limoges, France, this beautiful and rare porcelain set dates from approximately 1892–1907. The cup measures approximately 3 1/8\" tall.

The set features a creamy white porcelain ground beautifully decorated with hand-painted purple violets and soft green leaves. The rich violet flowers form a continuous floral border around the hostess plate and decorate the upper portion of the matching cup.

The cup is finished with a wide gold rim and an elaborate pierced scrolling gold handle. Fine hand-painted gold lines extend downward from the violet decoration, adding another decorative element to the design.

The large matching hostess snack plate features a striking border of purple violets and green leaves surrounding a softly shaded peach and cream center. Delicate gold line decoration radiates through the center, while a broad gold rim completes the design.

The underside bears the green T&V Limoges France mark associated with Tressemanes & Vogt of Limoges, France.

PATTERN & DESIGN

This rare Tressemanes & Vogt Limoges set features an especially attractive hand-painted violet design combined with extensive gold decoration.

The cup is surrounded by purple violets and softly shaded green leaves beneath a broad gold rim. Fine gold lines extend from the floral decoration down the body of the cup, while the elaborate pierced scrolling gold handle gives the piece an especially ornate appearance.

The large hostess snack plate continues the violet design with a nearly continuous floral border. The softly shaded peach center is accented with delicate radiating gold lines and surrounded by a broad gold edge.

The vivid violet decoration, elaborate pierced gold handle, large coordinated hostess plate and turn-of-the-century Limoges manufacture make this a particularly attractive and unusual Tressemanes & Vogt porcelain set.

 

The cup measures 3 1/8\" High x 2 1/4\" Wide rim to rim and the saucer is 7 3/4\" Wide rim to rim. I have provided a lot of pictures to best describe the condition of this Hostess Set.
